From common ground to higher ground

Throughout history, thinkers from ancient Greece to China have practiced the art of contemplating different perspectives, in order to gain a more comprehensive view. Meanwhile, in America today, we can hardly engage with different perspectives, let alone integrate them. Our viewpoint diversity has become a weakness, rather than a strength.
Amid this backdrop, Faces of X a series of short videos that integrate different perspectives on complex social issues — like AI, free speech, and race. |
The format is simple: each video first presents the strongest arguments on each side — the thesis and the anti-thesis — and then attempts to integrate them into a synthesis perspective. Thesis, anti-thesis, and synthesis are all played by the same
person.
Faces of X stars influencers who are known for independent thinking, like game theory expert Liv Boeree in Faces of AI and political commentator Destiny in Faces of Free Speech. But ultimately, the series is not about the individual issues — Faces of X is about cultivating our capacity to integrate our different perspectives into a bigger picture, and in turn, transforming our viewpoint diversity from a weakness to a strength.
